New! At our 11 Walcott Street Annex,
Enter Stage Left Theater Welcomes
Sparks! Inc. was founded by Hopkinton residents Robin Batchelder and Nancy Barton. Both Robin and Nancy have their
Masters Degrees in Fine Arts and both have been teaching for over 20 years. Our goal in art instruction is to help children
develop confidence and individuality by combining practical art skills with each child’s own intuitive creative ability. By refining
their competence in observation and learning to express themselves through various media, the students develop their own
unique and personal sense of artistic expression. Both Robin and Nancy believe that the environment in the classroom should
be one where ideas are welcomed and individual attention is always available. That is why at Sparks!, our class sizes are
limited to a maximum of ten students with two instructors. Our goal is to encourage that “spark” of creativity that is within each
child to grow in a safe and positive environment!
Sorry, there's no on-line registration for these classes.  Please print out a Registration Form and mail to our 30 Main Street Studio.  Fall

Messing Around with Art
Tuedays, 9:30-10:30 OR 1:00-2:00, Sept. 16-Dec. 16
for Kindergarten
Fee $198

During this fun, explorative, sometimes “messy” class, children will express themselves through the use of various media.  As they develop
their fine motor skills, they will be taught how the elements of design are brought together to create beautiful works of art.  They will have the
opportunity to work with marker, paint, collage, tissue and paper mache.  And that’s just the beginning!

Painting the World Around Us
Tuesday, 3:15-4:15, Sept. 16-Dec. 16
for 2nd and 3rd grade
Fee $198

By the time children enter the second and third grades, they become more interested in creating detailed and realistic images in their
artwork.  The subject matter also becomes more important to them.  In this class, we will begin by having the child bring in a favorite stuffed
animal, or simple object, to draw and paint.  From there the child will explore their environment through art.

Drawing What You See
Thursdays, 3:45-5:00 p.m., Sept. 18-Dec. 11
for 4th-8th grades
Fee $248

Drawing is a learned discipline that anyone can develop with the desire.  The children will begin to study objects and shapes and their
relation to one another.  They will learn to draw “what they see” as they develop their observational skills.  The excitement of rendering a
realistic and well-drawn composition raises self-confidence and self-awareness.

2009 Wall Calendar Workshop

1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade
Fee $150.00

During this workshop, you will create twelve one-of-a-kind works of art to mount on a monthly calendar that will be framed and ready to
hang on the wall. By the end of class all twelve calendar paintings will be wrapped in a beautifully presented package, along with the
frame-just in time for the new year! What a wonderful gift for a special family member or friend to enjoy for the entire year to come!

New!! Adult Class
The Gift of Healing H"Arts"
Six Week Workshop Fridays 9:30am-11am, Nov. 7th, 14th, 21st Dec 5th, 12th and 19th
Fee $125.00 includes materials

Many of us have been touched by illness in our lives, through a family member, close friend, or even ourselves. Both Nancy and Robin are
breast cancer survivors and have found art to be an integral part of their healing process. In this class we will create collages that
will integrate inspirational quotes and healing affirmations. We will introduce you to several watercolor techniques and incorporate them
into our multi-media collage. The objective is to create artwork inspired from your heart that touches and lifts the hearts of those
confronting all illness. Your pieces may be brought home, given to a friend, or provided to a patient receiving treatment at the Dana
Farber Cancer Institue. This is a great opportunity to have fun with beautiful materials and to become part of the healing process.
